A cambelt (also known as the timing belt) is a drive belt that links the top of the engine (camshaft) and the bottom of the engine (crankshaft) and ensures they remain synchronised. Over time and mileage the rubber of the cambelt deteriorates also external elements ie rain, salt, heat and grit to name a few, have a detrimental effect on the rubber of your cambelt. If the belt suddenly snapped the repair costs can be huge.
