VW Up GT concept Frankfurt Motor Show 2011
The global premiere of the new Volkswagen Up at today's Frankfurt motor show has been accompanied by a six-strong range of Up-based concepts, including a GT version.
An electric e-Up is also on display alongside a four-door Cross Up, two Up buggys designed for the beach and an Eco-Up with 79g/km Co2 emissions.
Powering the GT Up is 98bhp version of the 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine found in the standard three-door car. VW says the car is in the spirit of the original Golf GTI and promises exceptional performance thanks to its low 900kg kerb weight.
The electric e-Up has been confirmed for production in 2013 and the Frankfurt show car previews the production version. It uses a 60kw electric motor and 18kwh battery pack. It can reach a top speed of 85mph and can travel about 80 miles on a single charge.
The Eco up is powered by a 66bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder natural gas engine. VW says the car, which features its Bluemotion Technology, is already a production reality. Its ultra-low 79g/km Co2 figure is claimed to be a new best for a natural gas powered car.
The four-door cross up is another car with a production future. VW says the car both previews the imminent four-door Up and shows how it may look when given the rugged makeover.
The two buggy concepts have a beach theme. The buggy up takes its inspiration from Beetle-based buggys from California in the 1960s, while the up azzurra is based on a Mediterranean theme. It is the work of designers Giorgetto Giugiaro and Walter de Silva and takes its name from the azzurra sailing team in Italy.

Introduction
Always a popular option, courtesy cars are available for you to use when your car is off the road. Unfortunately, there are only a limited number of vehicles available and you may need to book a little further in advance to secure a car to use. We do ask that you cover our car on your insurance poilcy for the day and that you replace any fuel that you use.
Servicing
We run a Courtesy Coach service twice a day into Edinburgh city from our locations at Fort Kinnaird and Gorgie Road, Edinburgh. These options can prove flexible for many of our customers so please check the times of our runs with our service advisors.
Servicing & Maintenance
We can arrange to uplift your car from your home or office and return it to you when the work is completed. We operate this service within a radius of the dealership and it is advisable to organise this service for routine service work or pre-arranged repair work only. Please check with our service advisors as to the availability of this service.
Servicing, Maintenance & Tyres
Tyres are a component most likely to require replacement due to wear and tear. With tyre legislation now tight and potential fines high, extra attention should be paid in order to keep within safety and legal requirements.
By including the tyres element in your plan, you can have new tyres fitted during the plan period when necessary due to fair wear and tear. The tyre fitted will be the same size and specification of tyre, although it may not necessarily be the same brand. The tyres can be fitted at over 800 suppliers nationwide, so you are never far from assistance. Wheel alignment and geometry checks are also included in this element of the plan.
There are specific exclusions which relate to misuse or vandalism, kerbing accidental damage and replacement due to punctures — though puncture repairs are covered.
